Top 5 Off-Road Trails and Routes in Vagamon

📍 About this Trail

Vagamon is usually associated with green hills, mist, tea plantations and peaceful mountain roads.

But there is another side of Vagamon that I really enjoy the off-road trails hidden between the hills.

For this drive, we took the Jimny into the Vagamon mountain landscape and followed the recorded trail from the GPX.

The route is approximately 26.4 km, with the track climbing as high as around 1,168 metres before dropping back towards the lower sections.

And this is where the drive becomes interesting.

It isn't just a road drive through the hills.

The route takes you through changing mountain terrain, with plenty of elevation changes and sections where you need to pay attention to the vehicle and the trail.

I particularly enjoyed driving the Jimny here.

The compact size makes it fun on narrower mountain sections, and you get a completely different feeling compared with driving a large SUV.

The landscape is another reason I enjoyed this route.

One moment you're surrounded by green hills and plantations, and then the trail opens up with a wider mountain view.

For me, that's what makes Vagamon a great off-road destination.

You get the beauty of Kerala's mountains, but you can also find trails that give you a proper 4x4 experience.

I've driven plenty of desert trails where the challenge comes from sand.

Vagamon is completely different.

Here, the landscape is green, the terrain keeps rising and falling, and the weather can change the character of the trail within minutes.

Driving the Jimny through this landscape was probably my favourite part.

It's small, capable and just feels right for this kind of mountain trail.
