About this trail
๐ About this Trail
This was supposed to be an afternoon drive.
We had planned to leave around 3:30 PM, but when the time came, the Thoothukudi heat had a different plan for us.
Nobody really had the courage to step outside the hotel. ๐
So we waited.
Finally, around 4:30 PM, we decided that the weather had become a little more manageable and started our drive towards the coast.
It took us roughly an hour to reach the beach area, and the drive itself became part of the experience.
As we moved towards the coastal section, we got to see something I hadn't really paid much attention to before; how salt is produced.
Watching the salt fields and understanding how the coastal landscape is used for salt production made the drive more interesting. It wasn't just about getting to the beach; we were seeing a completely different side of Thoothukudi along the way.
Once we reached the coastal section, it was time to have some fun.
Driving along the beach and coastal terrain was completely different from the desert driving we had planned for the following day. The sand, open coastline and changing terrain gave us a chance to experience another kind of off-road driving.
We spent some time exploring and enjoying the coast until it became dark.
Once the sun went down, we started making our way back towards the hotels.
Everyone was tired but happy.
And there was a good reason to get some rest; we had another early adventure waiting for us the next morning.
Theeri Kadu desert trails.
So this wasn't really the main adventure.
It was the perfect warm-up.

Our original plan was 3:30 PM.
Reality said, "No chance." ๐
We waited another hour, finally left around 4:30 PM, and ended up having a much better drive.
Sometimes the best thing you can do on an adventure is listen to the weather instead of your itinerary.
We explored the coast, watched the salt fields, enjoyed some beach driving and stayed until dark.
Then we headed back to the hotel, because the next morning was waiting for us.
Theeri Kadu desert.
And that was going to be a completely different kind of drive.
For us, the attraction was the combination of:
๐ Coastal off-road driving
๐ Beach landscape
๐ง Salt production
๐ธ Coastal photography
๐
Sunset
๐ฅ Group driving
๐๏ธ Preparation for the Theeri Kadu desert drive
The biggest surprise was seeing how different the landscape becomes once you leave the town and move towards the coast.
