October to April is the most comfortable period for hiking.

Winter mornings are particularly enjoyable because temperatures are cooler and the mountain visibility is usually better.

Early morning is my preferred time.

You get cooler temperatures, softer sunlight and a much more peaceful trail experience.

Late afternoon is another good option, especially if you're looking for golden-hour photography.

Jebel Jais is considerably cooler than the UAE's coastal areas, particularly during winter.

Mountain weather can change quickly, so check conditions before starting your hike.

Samar Trail is located in the Jebel Jais mountain area of Ras Al Khaimah.

The main Jebel Jais road is paved and easily accessible by car. From Dubai, the journey takes roughly two hours depending on traffic and your starting point.

A normal car is sufficient to reach the Jebel Jais area; a 4WD isn't normally required for the paved approach.

The trail includes rocky and uneven sections, so proper footwear is important.

Difficulty: Easy to Moderate

Allow extra time if you're stopping frequently for photography or exploring viewpoints.

This is a mountain environment, so don't underestimate the terrain simply because the trail looks short.
