About this trail
π About this Trail
This was one of those one-day adventures from Bangalore where we wanted a little bit of everything; off-road driving, a challenging mountain climb, beautiful scenery and a place to relax afterwards.
The trail starts with river-bed sand driving, which immediately gives the drive a different character. Driving through the sandy river section was fun, but we knew the terrain could change as we moved towards the mountains.
And it did.
The route gradually takes you towards the mountain section, where the drive becomes more challenging. The climb requires proper control, the right line and enough confidence to tackle the uneven terrain.
This isn't just a simple scenic drive.
The mountain climb is where the real off-road experience begins.
Once we reached the higher section, the effort was completely worth it.
The views opened up beautifully, and we had the opportunity to enjoy the sunset from the mountain top. After spending the day driving through river-bed sand and climbing the mountain, watching the sun go down from up there was probably the highlight of the trip.
The route itself isn't extremely long, but the combination of sand, uneven terrain and mountain climbing makes it an interesting short 4x4 adventure.
ποΈ River-Bed Sand Drive
The sandy river-bed section was a fun way to begin the adventure.
Sand driving requires a different approach compared with normal off-roading. You need to understand your vehicle, maintain momentum where appropriate and avoid making sudden movements that can cause the vehicle to sink.
This section is enjoyable, but don't underestimate soft sand.
If you're unfamiliar with sand driving, travelling with an experienced group is always better.
β°οΈ The Mountain Climb
The character of the trail changes once we leave the river-bed section.
The route starts climbing towards the mountain, and this is where we had to concentrate more on our driving.
The climb includes uneven terrain and sections where choosing the right line becomes important.
For me, this was the most enjoyable part of the trail.
You slowly climb higher, look back at the landscape and realise how much the scenery has changed from the river-bed section.
π Sunset at the Mountain Top
The best reward came towards the end.
We reached the higher section in time to enjoy the sunset.
Standing on the mountain after completing the challenging climb and watching the landscape change as the sun went down made the whole drive worthwhile.
This is one of those places where I would recommend not rushing back.
Park safely, get out, have some water and simply enjoy the view.
Sometimes the best part of an off-road trip happens after you switch the engine off.
π¨ Stay Near the Trail
We also stayed at a nice resort close to the area, which made the trip even more comfortable.
A stay is completely optional.
If you start early and plan the drive well, this can work as a one-day exploration from Bangalore.
But if you don't want to rush, staying overnight is a good option.
You can enjoy the trail, watch the sunset and then relax at the resort instead of driving back immediately.
β οΈ Important Note: Get Permission & Protect Water Pipes
Please get permission from the local people before entering the river-bed sand section.
The river bed has multiple water pipes crossing the sand tracks, which are used to supply water for nearby agricultural activities. Some pipes may not be immediately visible, especially when covered by sand.
When driving:
π Drive slowly and carefully across the river bed.
π§ Watch for water pipes crossing the driving route.
β οΈ Do not drive over or damage the pipes.
π If you're unsure about a section, stop and check before proceeding.
π₯ Ask local people for guidance about the safest route.
π± Remember that these pipes support local agriculture.
A fun off-road drive should never come at the cost of damaging someone's water supply or farmland.
Get permission. Drive carefully. Protect the pipes. Respect the local community. πΏπ
What I liked about this place is that you get several experiences in one trip:
ποΈ River-bed sand drive
π 4x4 off-roading
β°οΈ Mountain climb
π Scenic views
π
Sunset from the mountain top
πΈ Photography
π¨ Optional resort stay
And the biggest advantage?
It's close enough to Bangalore to make it a one-day exploration trip.
