October to April is the more comfortable period for exploring Oman's mountain terrain.

Start early if possible. The cooler morning temperatures make the climb much more enjoyable.

🌅 Best Time of Day

Early morning is my preferred time.

The temperature is more comfortable and the morning light gives the mountains a completely different appearance.

If you plan to spend time taking photographs or exploring around the route, allow enough daylight rather than trying to finish the track after dark.

🌦️ Weather

Mountain weather deserves extra attention.

Rain can quickly change conditions in rocky mountain terrain and wadis.

Never enter a wadi or low-lying section when heavy rain is expected.

Also avoid attempting the route during extreme heat.

4x4 is essential.

The GPX shows approximately 444 m of elevation difference across only 5.34 km.

This is not a normal dirt road.

A capable 4WD such as a Land Cruiser, Patrol, Prado, Wrangler or similar vehicle is recommended.

Drivers should have previous mountain/off-road experience and understand how to manage steep climbs, descents and loose surfaces.

Traveling with another 4x4 is strongly recommended.

If you're including this route in a larger Oman overlanding trip, camping should be planned separately at a suitable and permitted location.

Avoid camping:

• In wadi channels

• On the driving track

• Near steep edges

• On private land

• In restricted areas

• 4x4 only.

• Don't attempt the route alone.

• Carry recovery equipment.

• Check weather before departure.

• Be prepared for steep climbs and descents.

• Keep the vehicle under control rather than chasing speed.

• Watch for loose rocks.

• Don't stop on blind corners.

• Keep your GPX available offline.

• Carry plenty of water.

• Respect local communities and private land.

• Avoid the route during heavy rain.

Five kilometres doesn't sound like much until you climb nearly 450 metres.

That's what makes this route interesting.

Don't come here to finish quickly.

Take the mountain slowly, keep your 4x4 under control, stop safely for the views and enjoy the feeling of climbing from the lower landscape into the mountains.

In Oman, sometimes the shortest tracks give you the biggest adventure.
