About this trail
📍 About this Trail
If you're looking for a short mountain off-road route around Qalhāt (Qualhat), this one is a great little adventure.
The Qualhat – East to West Off Track is a recorded 4x4 route through the rugged landscape around Qalhāt in Oman's Ash Sharqiyah region. The route is about 5.34 km, with approximately 445 m of elevation gain.
What makes the drive interesting is the quick change in landscape.
You start near the coast and gradually climb into the rocky mountain terrain. The short distance can be misleading—the elevation gain makes this feel much more like a proper mountain drive than a simple dirt-road outing.
This is the kind of route where I would take it slowly, especially on steep or uneven sections.
The reward is the changing scenery as you gain elevation and look back towards the rugged coastline and surrounding mountains.
For an experienced 4x4 driver, it's a nice short off-road section to include in a larger Qalhāt or Eastern Hajar road trip.
