📍 About This Place

Some places you visit for a few photographs.

Qasr Al Watan is a place where you need to slow down and actually look around.

The first feeling I had when I entered the palace was simply “wow.”

The scale, the white architecture, the enormous halls, the detailed patterns and the craftsmanship make you feel like you've stepped into a completely different world.

For me, Qasr Al Watan isn't just another tourist attraction in Abu Dhabi.

It gives you a feeling of what a grand Arabian palace must have been like and at the same time, it helps you understand the culture, traditions and way of governance of the UAE.

🏛️ The Great Hall

The Great Hall was one of the places where I found myself looking up, down and around without knowing where to look first.

The mirrored cubes, patterns and detailed architectural work create an incredible sense of scale.

Everywhere you look, there is another design detail.

I would recommend not rushing through this hall.

Take a few minutes and simply stand there.

The more you look, the more details you start noticing.

🕌 Al Barza

Al Barza is the palace's Majlis, traditionally a place used to welcome guests and hold gatherings.

Walking through this space gave me a better understanding of the importance of the Majlis in Emirati culture.

There is also a multimedia presentation explaining the history and significance of the Majlis and its connection with the UAE.

For me, this was one of the sections where the palace felt less like a beautiful building and more like a place where you could understand the country's traditions.

🤝 Spirit of Collaboration

The Spirit of Collaboration is the official meeting hall of the Federal Supreme Council and has hosted important meetings and summits involving regional organisations.

The enormous chandelier immediately catches your attention.

According to the information from our visit, it weighs around 12 tonnes and contains approximately 350,000 pieces of crystal.

Standing underneath it gives you a real sense of the scale of the room.

This isn't an ordinary meeting room.

Everything here has been designed to create a sense of occasion.

🍽️ The Presidential Banquet

The Presidential Banquet gives visitors a glimpse into the customs, protocols and traditions surrounding official state dinners.

What caught my attention was the sheer scale of the collection used for official occasions.

The palace information notes approximately 149,000 pieces of silver, crystal and china associated with the banquet.

You can see how much importance is given not only to the food but also to the presentation, hospitality and traditions surrounding an official gathering.

🎁 Presidential Gifts

Another interesting section is the Presidential Gifts exhibition.

The hall displays diplomatic gifts received from dignitaries during state visits.

For me, this was an interesting reminder that diplomacy isn't always about meetings and agreements.

Sometimes, gifts, craftsmanship and cultural objects also tell stories about relationships between countries.

📚 Qasr Al Watan Library – House of Knowledge

The House of Knowledge was another section I enjoyed.

The library contains manuscripts and material related to the history and origins of the Emirates, along with a collection of around 50,000 books and digital collections.

This part of the palace changes the experience again.

You move from enormous architectural spaces into a place focused more on knowledge, history and learning.

🪑 Meeting Room

The palace also includes a meeting room used for international meetings.

The decor can change depending on the guests and the event being hosted.

It was interesting to see how the palace can function not only as a cultural attraction but also as a working place for important meetings.

✨ Palace in Motion

If you visit Qasr Al Watan, I'd definitely recommend staying for the Palace in Motion light and sound show if it is being conducted during your visit.

The palace becomes a completely different experience after dark.

The architecture, walls and surrounding grounds are brought to life with light, sound and projections.

According to our original visit information, the show was conducted on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, around 7:30 PM, depending on sunset.

Watching the palace illuminated at night is something I wouldn't want to miss.

Show schedules can change, so check the current schedule before planning your visit.

🇦🇪 A Place to Understand UAE Culture

What I liked most about Qasr Al Watan is that you don't leave with only photographs.

You get an opportunity to understand more about:

• Knowledge

• UAE culture

The palace gives you a glimpse into the country's past and present while presenting it through an incredibly modern and grand setting.

☕ Dining & Shopping

After exploring the palace, there are places to stop for refreshments.

The Legma café near the exit serves snacks and beverages.

There is also a visitor-centre shopping area where you can find souvenirs and memorabilia.

I like ending visits like this with a small souvenir—not because I need it, but because it brings back the memory of the place later.

📸 The Memory From the Palace

There are also designated areas where visitors can take photographs and create a keepsake from their visit.

And honestly, you'll probably take plenty of photographs anyway.

There are simply too many beautiful details to walk past without taking out the camera.
