๐ About this Trail
There is something special about visiting a temple early in the morning, especially when reaching it involves a hike.
We started our Pennukonda Temple hike early in the morning, when the weather was still comfortable and the surroundings were quiet.
The early start made a big difference.
Instead of dealing with the strong heat later in the day, we could enjoy the climb at a relaxed pace. As we moved higher, the rocky landscape and surrounding hills slowly opened up around us.
For me, this wasn't just a temple visit.
It was a morning hike with a destination.
We stopped a few times along the way to catch our breath, take photographs and enjoy the views. The climb isn't something I wanted to rush because the surroundings were as interesting as the temple itself.
As the sun started coming up, the landscape changed completely.
The morning light across the hills made the climb feel worthwhile, and reaching the temple after walking up gave the visit a different feeling.
You arrive tired but in a good way.
After spending some quiet time at the temple, we could look back at the route we had climbed and appreciate the morning all over again.
If you enjoy combining hiking, history, spirituality and mountain landscapes, Pennukonda Temple is a trail worth adding to your weekend plans.
๐ก Gypsy Overlanding Family Tip
I've done plenty of drives where the vehicle is the main part of the adventure.
This was different.
We parked the vehicle and walked.
Starting early, climbing through the rocky landscape and finally reaching the temple as the morning light came in made the experience feel much more personal.
For me, the best part wasn't simply reaching the temple.
It was the quiet morning climb that took us there.
