The E45 is one of the important roads for reaching the Liwa desert region.

For overlanders, this isn't the off-road adventure itself. It's the road that gets you closer to the dunes, desert camps and remote tracks where the real adventure begins.

We use routes like E45 as the starting point for a longer desert journey. The drive gives you a chance to prepare the vehicle, top up fuel, check your equipment and decide where you want to leave the main road.

As you move deeper into the Western Region, the landscape gradually becomes more open and desert-focused.

Eventually, you reach the point where the paved road is no longer the destination.
