Tucked into the Al Hail Mountains of Fujairah, the cave is surrounded by the rugged Hajar Mountain landscape.

The area is more about exploration than a typical tourist attraction. You can combine the visit with a mountain drive and hiking, making it a nice adventure for people who enjoy discovering less-known places.

The landscape around Al Hail is completely different from the UAE's cities and beaches.

Rocky mountains rise around the valleys, and the narrow tracks give you a chance to get deeper into the landscape.

The cave itself adds another little discovery to the journey.

It isn't the kind of place where you simply arrive, take a photograph and leave.

The fun is in getting there.

The mountain terrain is rocky and uneven, so proper shoes, plenty of water and a good level of fitness are important.
