About this trail
๐ About this Trail
This is one of those UAE drives where the landscape keeps changing.
The Al Madam to Dibba Fish Market route in our GPX covers approximately 201 km, starting from the Al Madam area and crossing towards the Fujairah and Dibba side of the UAE.
The recorded track contains 8,612 GPS points, so this is a detailed route rather than a simple straight-line connection.
We started around Al Madam, where the landscape is dominated by desert, and gradually moved towards the Hajar Mountains.
The first part of the journey feels like a typical UAE desert drive.
Then the scenery starts changing.
The dunes give way to rocky terrain, wadis and mountain roads. Along the route, the GPX records several interesting points including Wadi, Tree, Falaj, Mountain, Wadi Shimฤl and Al Basera Dam.
One of the highlights is reaching the Al Basera Dam area, where the landscape becomes noticeably more mountainous.
From there, the route continues through Fujairah towards the coast and finally reaches the Dibba Fish Market area.
What I like about this route is that you don't spend the entire day looking at the same landscape.
Desert โ Wadi โ Mountain โ Dam โ Coastal Dibba.
That's a proper UAE overlanding day.
๐ก Gypsy Overlanding Family Tip
Don't think of this as a 201 km drive.
Think of it as several different UAE landscapes connected into one journey.
Start with the desert around Al Madam.
Then follow the route towards the wadis and mountains.
Stop around the dam.
Eventually, the mountains give way to Dibba and the coast.
That's what makes this route special the destination changes, but so does the landscape every few hours.
