-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some off-road trips are about the trail.

Some are about the people.

And some give you something that stays with you long after you return home.

Our Bettathur, Coorg trip with Orbit Adventure & Coorg Offroaders turned out to be one of those experiences.

Bettathur is part of the Kodagu region, surrounded by coffee plantations and the rugged Western Ghats. The area is also known for off-road tracks with mud, gravel and water crossings.

From Bengaluru to Bettathur

The original plan was a two-day Saturday and Sunday off-road adventure.

But with a festival coming up on Monday, many participants wanted to get back home early. So the plan was changed to one full day of off-roading on Saturday.

For me and my friend, travelling from Bengaluru meant almost 7 hours of driving just to reach the starting point.

So instead of rushing back, we decided to book a hotel for two nights and enjoy the trip without worrying about the long drive home.

A Warm Welcome

The day started beautifully.

The team welcomed us with breakfast, introductions, drinks, biscuits and plenty of goodies.

There was a great group of people, lots of conversations and that familiar excitement you get when everyone is waiting to get onto the trail.

Then came the briefing.

And finally...

we entered the trail.

The Bettathur Trail

The trail had everything I was hoping for.

Deep curves.

Sharp drops.

Water splashes.

Muddy slush.

Rocky sections.

Every turn brought something different.

The Western Ghats around Coorg made the whole experience even better. It wasn't just about getting the vehicle through an obstacle — the surroundings made the drive feel like a proper adventure.

And the best part was doing it together as a group.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Mini Challenge

At the end of the trail, the team organised a mini challenge drive and explained how the RFC-style challenges work.

This was something I was really looking forward to.

My friend and I decided to participate.

I didn't win the trophy. 😄

But honestly, I came away with something much more valuable.

Confidence.

The challenge pushed me to understand the vehicle, choose the right line and trust myself a little more.

That feeling after completing the challenge was fantastic.

I didn't win the trophy...

but I won the confidence for my next drive.

And now I'm already looking forward to the next challenge planned for November 2026.

A Happy Ending

After the day's adventure, we returned to the hotel, rested properly and enjoyed a relaxed Saturday night.

The next morning, we started our drive back towards Bengaluru.

Tired, happy and already talking about the next adventure.

That's probably my favourite part of off-roading.

You leave home looking for an experience.

You come back with memories, new friends and a little more confidence than you had before.

Gypsy Overlanding Family Tip ❤️

Sometimes you don't need to win a trophy to win.

For me, this trip was about pushing myself a little beyond my comfort zone.

I didn't bring the trophy home.
I brought confidence home.

And that is more than enough to make Bettathur a memorable drive.
