The Beaches and Laterite Cliffs of Varkala
In short: Varkala is the only place in Kerala where cliffs meet the Indian Ocean. The Geological Survey of India declared the Varkala cliffs a national geological monument, and they were designated a geo-heritage site in 2015. Papanasam Beach faces the roughly 2,000-year-old Janardhana Swami Temple. Heavy rain falls from June to August.
